Liatris spicata 'Floristan Violet'
Gayfeather or Blazing Star
Liatris floristan Violet

Foliage is a low, dense clump of grass-like leaves. Flower spikes have this grass-like-foliage as well, but shoot up well above the main foliage clump. Flowers are a magnificent pink to light purple color. The flowers are used extensively in cut flower arrangements. Flowering period is early to late summer (July-August). With flower spikes the plant can grow up to 36"+ tall and 18" wide. Great choice for a strong vertical element in your design. Attracts butterflies.
